U.T.R.I. - Unmanned Technologies Research Institute develops and produces innovative unmannned aerial systems (UAS) and special guidance/navigation and training equipments for Special Operations Forces (SOF). UTRI is also active in the aerospace sector offering advanced enegineering and technology solutions to meet emerging customers’ needs. The company was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers with considerable expertise in many aerospace sector programs and diverse and broad ranging skills from automation, guidance/navigation/control, avionics systems to advanced materials, within the main ones. The driving principle behind its creation was the founders’ desire to create a innovative company both in its approach to engineering, product development, manufacturing as well as in the business model. This made the company able to provide in a very short time breakthrough, reliable techological solutions to meet the current and future requirements of the armed forces.
U.T.R.I. has been invited to participate in several NATO programmes (PATCAD 2005, PAC 2006, PACD 2008) and exhibitions (CNAD Exhibition 2006 and Riga NATO Summit Exhibition 2006) and in special Working Groups at NATO level. In 2006 UTRI won the ”2006 Euroleader Award” -Space & Satcom Navigation Sector- as one of the fastest and more innovative companies in Europe.

UTRI’s UAS product line ranges from micro to mini and to larger tactical systems. All products, main key avionics and GN&C components are fully developed by the Company. UTRI provides special customizations, consistent and reliable products’ supply, delivering the highest quality of performance for the lowest life cycle cost thanks to the proprietary and breakthrough technological solutions implemented. The growing family of Unmmand Aerial System (UAS) are designed to meet new and unforseen applications providing real-time (day & night) intelligence in a stealthy and safe way, allowing the operator to easily track stationary as well moving targets. The common open system architecture, the common ground control segment (GCS) the compatibility and interoperability among the UTRI’s UAS makes them also fully compatible and easily interactive in a network-centric system.
UTRI supply also advanced and innovative precision guidance systems for airborne applications and for Special Operation Forces operations such as the SkyPath system (guidance & navigation aid for HaHo missions), the Nest (remote locator and paratroops training equipment)and the SkyPorter autonoumous air cargo guidance system). UTRI is the official supplier of the Italian MoD for such equipment.
Our multidisciplinary approach extends also to design training and simulation systems in order to accommodate evolving missions and to shorten the training time needed by the operators.
